Dog Passion - We love to help dogs

We love dogs with Passion! Doesn't matter if small, big, with or without coat, sick or healthy – we give love and care to Sri Lankas streetdogs. Our „Dog Passion House“ is based in Bentota on the westcoast. Besides our daily work on our dog places we drive regularlytours to take care of homeless and sick dogs who live on the road.

We always try also to include the local people in our work so they understand that most of the dogs are neither dangerous nor contagious.

Furthermore we are working on a long term solution to reduce the population of the streetdogs. We organize sterilization days but also catch single dogs for medicial treatment and castration. Because every puppy who is born on the street only has a very small chance to survive in Sri Lanka.

If you wanna support us you can donate on our german bank account or via Paypal.

Christina has chosen Sri Lanka as her new home. When she arrived she saw a lot of stray dogs and cats in the streets, either being ill, malnourished or with wounds. So she decided to help these poor creatures and founded the organization Dog Passion Sri Lanka. You can also follow us on Facebook.

The Story of Lucy

When Lucy was brought to us she was more dead than alive. Very old, nearly blind, unable to stand up and fully covered with skin rash. Although I didn't set my hopes high that she would stand a chance to recover we tried our best to make her feel comfortable. Her appetite was more than well and we understood quite fast that Lucy won't die so soon.

We treated her against her sickness and helped her to recover with walking her patiently and she received physiotherapy. We got our reward for all this hard work. Five weeks after she had arrived Lucy stood up and walks again on her own ❤️ which is really like a little miracle to me. She shares her sleeping place with many puppies and is happily wagging her tail whenever there is a reason.

Animal rescue is hard work, especially because we have to see a lot of pain and suffering. Lucy is the best example that sometimes we need to stand the suffering to get over it. Who are we to decide which life is worth living and which is not? We should just do what we can to help every animal to stand up again. All other things should be decided by god, the universe, karma or whatever you may call it.

Impressions from our work, our dogs and our volunteers

Our Lovestory: Shona and Rajan

When we found Shona and Rajan on the road this year they were more dead than alife. Both were suffering from distemper and were not able to get up anymore. Shona lay crying and covered in ants in the rain drain on the side of a road and Rajan was reported to us by some locals as he lay on the road unable to get up.
Rajan recovered relatively fast and felt quickly comfortable in our volonteer house but for Shona it was a hard way to feel home. Three times she run away from our rental apartment in Alutghama (where we lived at that time). She always walked to a big bus parking place were she would hide under a bus. That time I decided to keep her there for a while but before I left to Germany this year I caught her again. I brought her to our volonteer house as I knew she wouldn't survive without good care.
Luckily Shona felt comfortable in the big garden of our volonteer house and when she and Rajan met, a true love story began....
🙂.
Today both dogs are really happy with us and nothing can pay me off more than seeing Shona now even playing with other dogs. In moments like this all doubts are gone and I am 100 percent sure that dog rescue is my destiny.
